Christopher Tutt

Principal Psychologist
MCPA, BPsySc (Hons)

Chris (he/him) is here to help. Chris is a generally registered psychologist with 9 years clinical experience working in mental health services with a diverse range of people. He believes that effective therapy balances validation and behaviour change to support each client with their personal goals. He approaches each session in a flexible, supportive and affirming manner tailored to each individual.

Chris is available to provide psychological support for those aged 10 years and older. He has worked in both private practice and public health services supporting adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health concerns. He has spent the last 5 years as a Psychologist and Senior Psychologist with Queensland Health’s Child and Youth Mental Health Services and is particularly well suited to supporting adolescent, youth and young adult clients with complex needs.

Chris is formally trained in a range of therapeutic modalities including:
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Interpersonal Psychotherapy
- Family Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Mentalization-Based Treatment

Chris is a Supervisor Training & Assessment Program (STAP)-endorsed supervisor. He holds a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences with Honours from The University of Queensland and a Master of Clinical Psychology (Advanced Entry) from the University of Southern Queensland.

In his spare time, Chris is a soccer fan, coffee lover and devoted dog dad to Lucky the beagle.

Fees

Psychologist Consultation

Kookaburra Psychology offers psychological support and intervention. Sessions are available in person or via telehealth.

Initial 50-minute session | $265

Subsequent 50-minute session | $245

Note: You may be eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan. A Mental Health Care Plan is provided by your GP and can give access to a $96.65 Medicare rebate per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. With a Mental Health Care Plan, out-of-pocket expenses are $148.35 per session and $168.35 for an initial session. Discuss with your GP to find out more.

Your private health insurance may provide contributions to psychological support under your Extras policy. This cannot be claimed in conjunction with the Medicare rebate. Contact your private health insurance provider to find out more.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) consultation

Kookaburra Psychology offers psychological support for self-managed and plan-managed clients linked with the NDIS. Sessions are available in person or via telehealth.

50 minutes | $222.99

Kookaburra Psychology is not an NDIS registered provider and is unable to accept NDIA-managed plans.

Professional Supervision

Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) clients

WorkCover

STAP Board-approved supervision available in person or via telehealth.

50 minutes | $150

DVA card holders will be billed as per DVA guidelines and will have no out of pocket expenses.

Clients accessing services through WorkCover will be billed as per Workcover guidelines and will have no out of pocket expenses. Please email a copy of your WorkCover claim prior to the initial appointment.

Cancellation policy

Cancellations made more than 48 hours of an appointment will not be charged a fee.

Cancellations made with less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours of an appointment will be charged 50% of the full fee.

Cancellations made less than 24 hours of an appointment will be charged 100% of the full fee.

Online booking available

Online booking requires a 50% deposit of the full fee at time of booking.

The current fee recommended by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) for a standard 46-60 minute session with a psychologist is $300.
